Cami Walker, a young woman in her mid-30’s, was diagnosed with MS in 2006. After struggling with the chronic pain and subsequent addiction to pain medications, Cami’s health and spirits were plummeting. She decided to take the advice of a South African holistic healer: give a gift a day for 29 days. While the process did not cure her MS, it did have a startling effect on her health and happiness. Cami documented her experience in her New York Times bestselling book 29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life.

An excerpt from the book, 29 Gifts: “My first reaction was that I thought Giving 29 Gifts was an insane "prescription," but it has given me a more positive outlook on life. It’s about stepping outside of your own story long enough to make a connection with someone else. Perhaps the biggest change is that today I feel spiritually in touch with a higher sense of power. I have begun to see that everything belongs to the divine. When we give or receive, we are connecting to God. I now see I am a small part of a much greater whole, rather than a self-contained, deserted island I felt like 29 days ago. Today I see my interdependence with other people and God as a source of power in my life … in the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi, ‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.’ The past 29 days have proven this to be true for me.”
Come hear Cami's remarkable story of healing, and then she will lead us through a series of visualizations and journaling exercises so we can start our own 29 Days of Giving as a community.
